Katlin O’Brien

associate


Ms. O’Brien represents individuals and corporations in internal investigations, regulatory and criminal enforcement matters, and commercial litigation.  She represents individuals and businesses in a wide array of industries including financial services, legal services, tech, and crypto.  She is a successful litigator with experience at every stage of litigation, from internal investigations through discovery, motions practice, trial, and appeal.  Before joining Harris St. Laurent & Wechsler, Ms. O’Brien was a litigation associate at Williams & Connolly LLP, where she focused on white collar and commercial litigation matters.

Some of Ms. O’Brien’s representations include:

  • Representing lawyer and law firm in multiweek legal malpractice trial

  • Representing CEO, several individual board members, and controlling shareholder in breach of fiduciary duty action in Delaware Chancery Court  

  • Representing individual charged with wire fraud and conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud in federal court

  • Representing large tech company in multiple investigations brought by state attorneys general and federal regulatory agencies

  • Representing crypto exchange in forfeiture action and criminal investigation

  • Conducting internal investigation for defense contractor

  • Representing a pro bono asylum seeker at a hearing before the Executive Office for Immigration Review  

Ms. O’Brien is a graduate of American University and Duke University School of Law.  At Duke Law, Ms. O’Brien was a member of the Duke Law Journal and served as President of the Duke Law Women Law Students Association.  After law school, she clerked for the Honorable Robert N. Chatigny on the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut and for the Honorable Allison J. Rushing on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.  

 Ms. O’Brien is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and North Carolina.  She is also admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
