HSW Partner Kim Michael Profiled in Lawdragon Lawyer Limelight

April 4, 2023

Harris St. Laurent & Wechsler partner Kim Michael has been featured in Lawdragon’s Lawyer Limelight, which features Q&A-style interviews with attorneys and professionals at the forefront of the legal profession. Ms. Michael discussed her career as an employment lawyer and litigator for both employees and employers.

In the interview, Ms. Michael shared how she first became interested in law, and what she enjoys about being an employment lawyer.

“I spend much of my time working on behalf of employees and find it tremendously rewarding to help individuals embarking on an exciting new opportunity or who are going through an employment separation or dispute, which can be a genuinely traumatic event,” she told Lawdragon. “On the other hand, when I represent employers, I take it as an opportunity to show employees that companies can treat people the right way but also will not just roll over in the face of frivolous allegations. Working for both makes me a better attorney, as I know how to anticipate and respond to arguments on all sides.”

She also discussed some of her recent matters, including a $2 million award she secured for a corporate financial advisor in a JAMS arbitration.

Ms. Michael has spent the vast majority of her legal career focusing on employment law and litigation. She advises, and handles disputes for a wide array of clients with respect to all aspects of employment law including matters involving compensation, restrictive covenants (including non-competition and non-solicitation agreements), trade secrets, severance pay, discrimination, retaliation, harassment, whistleblowing and defamation. She was selected as a Leading Plaintiff Employment & Civil Rights Lawyer by Lawdragon in 2021 and 2022.
