Arshiya Sharda

Arshiya Sharda is a dual-qualified lawyer, admitted to practice in New York and India. Before joining Harris St. Laurent Wechsler, Mr. Sharda clerked for the Honorable Andrea Masley, J.S.C. at the New York State Supreme Court (Civil Branch, Commercial Division).

Ms. Sharda graduated with a LL.M. from Columbia Law School in 2023. During her time at Columbia, Ms. Sharda was a board member of the Columbia International Arbitration Association (CIAA) and served as a Co-Chair for Columbia Arbitration Day 2023, CIAA’s annual flagship event.

Ms. Sharda received her first law degree (B.A. LL.B.) from the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research University of Law in India. Prior to obtaining her LL.M., Ms. Sharda practiced as a commercial litigator in India for three years and worked with the capital markets practice of a leading Indian law firm for two years. As a commercial litigator, Ms. Sharda represented government bodies and Indian corporations in high value legal disputes before the Indian courts and arbitral tribunals. Her practice focused on a broad range of business disputes-including contract, fraud, insolvency and bankruptcy, insurance matters- in arbitral forums, as well as trial and appellate courts.

Her notable representations* include being part of trial and arbitration teams that:

  • Represented an Indian multinational conglomerate in Singapore international Arbitration Centre proceedings against an American multinational technology company in connection with disputes pertaining to breaches of Share Subscription and Purchase Agreements.

  • Represented the Indian airports regulator in arbitration proceedings in connection with a $ 2 billion dollar dispute pertaining to breaches of Airport Concession Agreements for the New Delhi and Mumbai airports.

  • Represented an Indian retail company before the Supreme Court of India in proceedings challenging the enforcement of an arbitral award.

  • Represented a leading Indian telecommunications company, in bankruptcy proceedings before the Indian bankruptcy tribunal.
