Dr. Monica Delgado Publishes Article in the New York Law Journal
July 19, 2021
Harris St. Laurent & Wechsler’s Dr. Monica Delgado published an article in the New York Law Journal. Titled “The ‘Today’ Normal: Re-entering the Somewhat Familiar With a Mindset for Success,” the article provides insights into how lawyers can approach their post-COVID legal practice.
She says that, rather than thinking they’ve reached a new normal when many elements of their personal and work lives are still in flux, lawyers should instead have a “today normal” mindset.
“The today normal is grounded in the current reality, is mindful of who we are and acknowledges that we have transitioned through a global crisis,” writes Dr. Delgado. “This approach is especially valuable to anyone dealing with legal proceedings, managing clients, or relating to counsel on the other side of a deal. It provides the best perspective because it facilitates a present-centered, non-emotionally reactive platform from which realistic optimism can emerge.”
Dr. Delgado is an executive coach who works with the firm’s legal teams at critical and stressful stages of cases to prepare clients for peak performance. These include depositions, testifying at arbitrations or trial, preparing for settlement mediations and navigating the unwinding of business relationships. Dr. Delgado has twenty years of experience working with individuals involved in legal cases, and in multicultural psychology.
