Michelle Fox has been a hands-on litigator since she graduated from law school. She has experience representing institutional, corporate and individual clients across a variety of industries in both state and federal court. She has handled every aspect of the litigation process – from the pleadings stage to trial, having argued dozens of motions, tried both jury and non-jury cases and conducted oral argument before the New York State Appellate Division. By analyzing the unique issues and factual circumstances at the outset of each case, Michelle develops individualized litigation strategies to achieve the best results for her clients.
Michelle focuses her practice on commercial and business disputes, including breach of contract claims, business torts and dissolution actions. Her experience also includes representing high net worth clients in matrimonial actions that require the complex division of assets. In addition, Michelle has handled numerous matters in the entertainment industry, where she routinely represented companies that produce live television specials and award shows including the Tony Awards.
Upon graduating from law school, Michelle served as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of New York, where she handled Manhattan’s highest exposure negligence and intentional tort cases. She has defended and taken deposition testimony in over 150 cases, negotiated six-figure settlements and has successfully argued numerous motions at the pretrial and trial stages.
Michelle has been named a Super Lawyers Rising Star for the last three years.
Outside of the office, Michelle serves as Co-Chair of the New York Women’s Bar Association Committee to Advance the Status of Women in the Profession.
Michelle graduated summa cum laude from the University of Florida in 2008. She was then selected to join Teach for America and serve as an elementary school teacher in the south Bronx for two years. Michelle received her JD from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2013, where she was an active member of the Moot Court Honor Society. Prior to joining Harris St. Laurent, Michelle practiced at an Am Law 200 firm.
Michelle is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey.
