Julie Withers has 15 years of experience litigating and trying cases in a wide variety of areas with a special emphasis on the financial services industry and white collar and regulatory defense.
Since joining the firm in 2011, Julie has been a member of the firm’s litigation teams that won a federal jury verdict of over $20 million in a business dispute, a victory against the SEC on fraud charges for a stockbroker accused of market-timing, the successful resolution of a “Black Friday” internet gambling action brought by the United States Department of Justice against a world-renowned poker player and an arbitration award for an investment banker against his former employer.
Julie also represents individuals and companies in general business disputes. Recently negotiating a $13 million settlement for an entrepreneur in a failed acquisition and negotiating a complete return of all lost monies for an investor in a dispute with a bank.
Previously, Ms. Withers was an associate at Allen & Overy LLP, a leading international firm, where she focused on defending financial institutions and individuals in white collar criminal and regulatory investigations and cases. Julie began her career at Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP, as part of that firm’s white collar defense group led by Peter Fleming, Jr.
Julie’s pro bono representations have included 10 individuals imprisoned at Guantanamo Bay, and the clemency appeal of Stanley Tookie Williams.
Ms. Withers was named a Super Lawyers Rising Star (2012-2014).
Julie graduated from the American University of Paris and is fluent in French. She graduated magna cum laude from Fordham University Law School in 2003 and clerked for Judge Kevin Thomas Duffy in the Southern District of New York.
She is admitted to the bar of New York.
